Inspiring ocean conservation through art

We believe that art is the perfect vehicle to show what is hidden, explore new horizons, question the status quo, highlight the magical biodiversity, make connections, and raise awareness.

Under the Sea

1st Annual Exhibition

Under the Sea was created to inspire people to fall in love with the ocean and motivate them to protect it; as well as provide artists with the opportunity to showcase their incredible work in ocean education, conservation, and protection.

We hope you join us in this journey to find what makes the ocean important to you and why, what connects you to this wonderful body of water, and how to defend it.

Oceans

Virtual Artist Residency

The Oceans Virtual Artist Residency was conceived to provide a dedicated space for artists whose work centers around our oceans. Our goal is to foster connections among like-minded artists, facilitate the development of new projects, and offer dedicated time and space for their creative practice. We aim to create a global virtual community where artists from diverse backgrounds can unite, sharing a common commitment to the oceans and their preservation for future generations.

Quotes by people who love the ocean

Remoteness has given the deep ocean protection until now but pressures are mounting from climate change, fisheries, pollution, oil and gas extraction and the threat of deep-sea mining. Let us all be deep-ocean stewards.
— Maria Baker, Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative
I opened my eyes. All around us the twilight zone creatures flashed back. It was as though we were at the center of a meteor shower, streaks and bursts and aureoles of light bejeweling the darkness to the far edges of our vision, enfolding us in a zodiac of sparks.
— Susan Casey, The Underworld: Journey to the Depth of the Ocean
The deep sea will never run out of things for us to dream about.
— Helen Scales, The Brilliant Abyss
Bioluminescence makes life that was once invisible and obscure brilliantly observable. In the deep and vast darkness of the largest living space on the planet, a single, tiny flash announces the extraordinary experiment that is life.
— Edith Widder, Below the Edge of Darkness
Using remote technologies we are able to capture images of coral reefs that have never seen the light and in doing so raise public awareness of these very old, fragile and diverse habitats.
— Dr. Tabitha Pearman
